  1. v1.2.54Latest
    • This release includes minor updates to pan detection behavior to improve accuracy, especially when moving or adjusting the pan on the burner.

    • This follow-up update includes a targeted refinement to pan detection and coil behavior, to ensure consistently seamless cooking performance.
  3. v1.2.43Active Power Management, Temp Mode Improvements
    • More responsive temperature control
    • Faster, more responsive preheating: Up to 35% faster to reach set temperature at common cooking ranges (250–450°F), based on internal testing
    • More accurate preheating at low-temperatures: Reduced overshoot during initial preheating. Internal testing shows a reduction of up to 15°F during initial preheating.
    • These updates make it easier to dial in exactly the level of heat you want—and trust it stays there.
    • For the best temperature control performance, we recommend high-quality tri-ply stainless steel cookware, which provides the most responsive and consistent results on induction.
    • Introducing: Active Power Management
    • We’re introducing Active Power Management: a system that automatically adjusts power in real time to improve cooking outcomes and help avoid unwanted behavior like boil-overs and overheating.
    • At higher power levels, more energy doesn’t always lead to better results. Depending on what you’re cooking, how a pan behaves, or how many burners are being used, the stove may reduce power to keep things controlled and consistent.
    • When this occurs, you may see a dashed lightning bolt indicator on a burner, along with a short message explaining why power is being adjusted. This appears only when the stove’s actual output differs from your requested level.
    • You may notice this in situations such as:
    • When the cooking surface temperature approaches the burner’s maximum allowable level
    • When a pan has reached its effective heating limit and can’t safely absorb more power
    • When total requested power exceeds the stove’s maximum output (15 kW)
    • Clearer feedback, thoughtfully introduced
    • We’ve begun rolling out audio alerts to provide clearer feedback during cooking, starting with key moments like errors and important system states.

    • Longer standby time (now 10 minutes) based on customer feedback

  4. v1.2.2Clearer Cooking Controls
    • Clearer cooking controls
    • When turning the knob, all cooking levels are now visible so it’s easier to see where to move next (for example, Low / Medium / High in Power Mode, or Melt / Brown / Sear in Temperature Mode).
    • A new on-screen hint shows how to press the knob to switch between cooking modes.
    • In Power Mode, cooking levels are now shown first, with Watts shown second. This layout better matches how folks typically think about cooking and makes Power and Temperature modes easier to tell apart.
    • The cooking unit is now shown directly next to the set power level or temperature. This was previously at the bottom of the colored bar.
    • Note: You may occasionally see these cooking levels appear or shift slightly without an intentional knob turn. This is a known behavior. We’re continuing to tune knob sensitivity in upcoming releases to make the interaction feel even more precise.

    • Updated turn-off animation to better communicate sleep vs. power down states.
    • The display now indicates when shutdown is delayed due to a hot cooking zone.

  5. v1.1.74Bad Pan Detection
    • Improved Pan Detection — Better insight, better performance
    • This update introduces a new first step in pan detection that helps the stove understand the cookware’s electrical signature earlier and with more nuance. Because Impulse can deliver up to 10 kW, 3x a typical induction range, the stove needs to make exceptionally fast, precise decisions about how a pan will interact with that level of power.
    • This new process went through full UL review and approval, as it touches core elements of the stove’s safety systems.What’s new today
    • Before running its normal pan detection routine, the stove now performs a rapid micro-pulse “pre-check.” This gives the system an early read of the pan’s electrical signature.
    • If the pan looks compatible, cooking continues as usual.
    • If not, the burner will pause and show “incompatible pan.”
    • What you might notice
    • Some pans that previously worked may now trigger the "incompatible pan" message. We know this can be frustrating, especially with cookware you’ve relied on. But virtually every case we’ve seen comes down to one of two things:
    • The pan’s construction sits just outside standard induction behavior.We see a wide range of pan behavior in testing. On the <4 kW burners common in typical induction stoves, variations in construction might be less noticeable. On Impulse’s 10 kW burner, those small differences become much more important and can impact cooking and system performance.
    • There’s something interfering with detection.A thin layer of moisture, oil, or residue under the pan can cause the system to pause. A quick wipe typically resolves it.
    • Put simply: if you see the "incompatible pan" message, it’s flagging the pan didn’t respond to our test pulse in a way that meets the requirements for high performance induction cooking.
    • Why this matters — and where we’re headed
    • This pre-check gives the stove a more detailed picture of the pan in the first microseconds of heating. With a clearer signal up front, we have more room to explore ways the stove can tailor how it applies power to different cookware. Over time, this deeper understanding may enable more nuanced cooking behaviors that adapt to the pan’s unique characteristics.
    • Faster Wake / Power-On
    • We’ve heard your feedback and made the stove feel more immediate in everyday use. The press required to wake the stove has been shortened to 1 second.
    • Improved System Stability & Communication
    • A collection of behind-the-scenes improvements enhance coordination between the stove’s internal components. These updates improve reliability during high-power cooking, battery-heavy scenarios, and periods of Wi-Fi instability.

    • Updated the copy when pressing the power button while the stove is on to read “Hold to sleep” (previously “Hold to power off”) for a more accurate description of what is going on.Reminder: If you need to fully power down your cooktop, keep holding the power button for 10 seconds until you hear a click.

  9. v1.1.33Scheduled Charging
    • New Features
    • Scheduled Charging and Reserve Battery
    • Introduced Scheduled Charging, allowing you to set specific charging times and currents.
    • Your cooktop will now charge on a schedule that you choose. Enter the Scheduled Charging interface by holding down any knob to enter Settings, then selecting Power and Battery → Scheduled Charging.
    • Ensure your time zone is properly configured.
    • Select a preferred start time. If you have solar and regularly sell excess energy back to the grid, you may want to configure this for mid-day. If you are on a TOU (time-of-use) rate plan that provides cheaper energy overnight, you may want this set for later in the evening.
    • You may also select the nominal charge current (from 4.0 to 12.5 A for 120 V installations, or 2.0 to 8.0 A for 240 V installations). Lower charge currents will result in less fan noise but longer charging periods. This setting only applies to Scheduled Charging.
    • Selecting your preferred start time does not guarantee charging will begin exactly at that time. Charging will only start if the battery is below 75%—or falls below 75% within two hours of your scheduled start time.
    • Once Scheduled Charging has started, the system will continue the session until the battery is fully charged.
    • Note: By default, if you do not configure Scheduled Charging, the system will set your start time to 3:00 AM and charge current to 6.5 A upon upgrading to version 1.1.33 or later. Scheduled Charging cannot be disabled.
    • Battery Reserve
    • Added Battery Reserve settings to maintain a minimum charge level with configurable maximum charging current.
    • This guarantees that you will have energy available in an outage and ensures sufficient battery capacity to enable high-power cooking during regular use.
    • Enter the Battery Reserve interface by holding down any knob to enter Settings, then selecting Power and Battery → Battery Reserve.
    • Select a preferred battery reserve percentage (from 30% to 70%) and a nominal charge current (from 4.0 to 12.5 A for 120 V installations, or 2.0 to 8.0 A for 240 V installations).
    • Once set, your cooktop will begin charging if the battery level falls below your reserve threshold. The charge current setting carries the same tradeoffs as with Scheduled Charging and applies only when the battery drops below the reserve percentage.
    • Once Reserve Charging has started, the system will continue until the battery is fully charged.
    • Note: Battery Reserve charging cannot be disabled. By default, if you do not configure Battery Reserve, the system will set your reserve threshold to 70% and charge current to 8 A upon upgrading to version 1.1.33 or later.
    • Note: When the system is first connected (e.g., during setup) or reconnected (e.g., after a grid-down event or being unplugged) when the battery is below 30%, the system will fully charge the battery at a high current regardless of your Battery Reserve settings.
    • Bug Fixes
    • WiFi Connectivity
    • Fixed issue where the back button could not be selected when no WiFi networks were detected on the WiFi settings page.

    • Fixed OTA (over-the-air) update issues that could prevent proper system updates.
    • Fixed several other small bugs.
  10. v1.1.17
    • Battery fan behavior
    • What: Battery firmware updated. The fan now turns off when the cooktop is idle.
    • Why: Further reduce unnecessary fan noise.
    • Cap-touch ON behavior
    • What: Power button now requires a ~2-second hold to turn on, with a clockwise animation.
    • Why: Prevents false turn-ons from casual taps, and eliminates situations where the product software and safety firmware get out of sync during accidental taps, which can result in an error for users. We’ve added immediate visual feedback to cap-touch presses.
    • Paused state LEDs
    • What: Burner-level and system-level paused states now show a white LED animation instead of blue.
    • Why:
    • Blue is now reserved for Power Mode. This change keeps color usage consistent and avoids confusion.
  11. v1.1.12
    • More responsive temperature control
    • We’ve heard that temp mode sometimes took a while to reach the set point.
    • This update makes temperature control more aggressive so it gets there faster.
    • This also enables simmering and even boiling in Temp Mode. That said, the best way to cook liquids is using Power Mode, where you can boil fast and dial in the perfect simmer. Try it out, you’ll like it.
    • Quieter charging fan noise
    • Update 1.1.10 update addressed the stove fan behavior. This one improves the inverter charging fan (the whirring you sometimes hear while charging).
    • UI Notes
    • In temperature mode, we no longer display the measured temperature unless the pan is within 10F of the target. While the fast moving number was kind of interesting, it generally wasn’t actionable during cooking and the error bars when the pan was heating that fast were fairly high.
  12. v1.1.10
    • Fan noise related Improvements:
    • Capped fan speed at 25% while in sleep mode
    • Added auto-sleep behavior when burners are still hot
    • Note: These are minor fan noise improvements. We are working on a few other changes and features that should roll out soon to address the issue.
    • Improved logic for overheating shutdowns in Power Mode:
    • Adjusted heater control on temp control sensor.
    • Updated behavior when the burner approaches the high temperature threshold of 500F. Now instead of shutting down all burners, the stove will more aggressively cut back on burner power to stay within operating temperature.
    • If the max temperature is exceeded, only the affected burner will power down instead of the entire stove.
